Dr.Baruch banai biography
Baruch Banai, the oldest of three siblings, was born in 1950, Jerusalem, Israel. In 1968, immediately after graduating from high school, he was obliged to join the Israeli Defence Force. For a period of three years he served in a combat unit and was exposed to the destructive aspects of war.
This exposure shape and influenced his appreciation for life, and his stand against the existence of military institutions, wars and violence at large.

In 1971, after being released from the Israeli military, he enrolled to medical school, in Haifa, Israel, from which he graduated in 1978. In 1979, on recommendation from his professor, Dr. Banai moved to South Africa to join the surgical unit in Wits University, Johannesburg.
